Appearance
Small deepwater basslet with a dark purple to burgundy body and distinctive bright yellow horizontal stripes or bars running along the flanks. The head is relatively large, and the fish has the characteristic stubby, compressed body shape typical of Gramma species. Maximum length around 3 inches.
Diet and feeding
Feed a varied diet of high-quality frozen or fresh meaty foods including mysis shrimp, copepods, and small crustaceans. Offer 2-3 times daily in small portions. Live feeds and quality prepared foods promote best coloration.
Difficulty and care for the Yellowlined Basslet
Moderate difficulty. While hardy once acclimated, Yellowlined Basslets are deepwater fish requiring stable conditions, cooler temperatures, and meaty feeding. They are somewhat reclusive and may take time to acclimate to captive care.

Origin and habitat
Western Atlantic, endemic to the deep reefs of Belize and the Caribbean coast of Central America, typically found at depths of 400+ feet.
