Appearance
The Redmouth Grouper is a large grouper with a stocky body, typically displaying brown, tan, or reddish coloration with darker blotches or mottling. The mouth interior is distinctively red, which gives the species its common name. It has a robust head and rounded body typical of the Serranidae family.
Diet and feeding
Feed live or frozen meaty foods including fish, crustaceans, and squid. This is an opportunistic nocturnal predator that should be fed 2–3 times daily with appropriately sized portions.

The Redmouth Grouper is suitable only for experienced aquarists with large, well-established systems. It requires substantial tank space, careful feeding management, and isolation from smaller fish and crustaceans, which it will consume.
