Deep maroon body with white to yellow vertical bands and a distinctive white head stripe. Males are smaller and more intensely colored; females larger with more pronounced banding.
Diet and feeding
Marine algae, zooplankton, brine shrimp, mysid shrimp, small crustaceans, frozen foods (mysis shrimp, brine shrimp), and prepared foods.
