Appearance

Dascyllus carneus is a small damselfish with a grayish-brown to brownish body and darker bands or mottling. The fish has a stocky, oval body shape typical of pomacentrids and displays a somewhat cloudy or dusky coloration, which accounts for its common name.

Diet and feeding

In captivity, feed a varied diet of high-quality flake foods, small pellets, and occasional frozen foods such as mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. They will also graze on microalgae and benefit from some vegetable matter in their diet.
