Larvae require brackish/marine conditions, so it will not breed in freshwater aquaria. A large, peaceful filter-feeder that fans suspended particles from the current; provide strong flow and a mature, food-rich tank. Shy and nocturnal, it needs caves and target feeding of fine suspended foods to thrive. Copper sensitive — avoid copper meds. Despite the menacing name it is completely harmless to tankmates.
