Keeper notes
Breeds prolifically in freshwater; lays jelly egg masses and can become a pest if overfed. A spiral-shelled snail sold in red, blue, and pink color forms, valued as a detritus and algae cleaner. Generally plant-safe, though it may rasp very soft or decaying leaves; population is driven by available food, so avoid overfeeding to keep numbers in check. Needs adequate calcium for shell health. Copper sensitive — no copper meds.
