Keeper notes

Livebearer that releases a few fully-formed young at a time, so it does not overrun tanks. A hardy, cold-tolerant snail with an operculum 'trapdoor', popular for ponds and unheated tanks. A good algae and detritus grazer that is generally plant-safe and breeds slowly as a livebearer. Needs hard, alkaline water with calcium for shell health. Copper sensitive — avoid copper meds. Tolerates cool temperatures well.
