Keeper notes

Can breed in freshwater though some populations need slightly brackish water for larvae; survival is low in community tanks. A cheap, transparent scavenger often sold as feeders, hardy across a wide range of stable water. Good cleanup crew but larger individuals may nip very small shrimp or fry, so it is only semi-peaceful. Copper sensitive — avoid copper meds. Quality and health vary widely since they are mass-produced as feeders.
