Breeds in freshwater; female carries eggs and young under the tail. A vivid blue full-size crayfish that is hardy but territorial and predatory; it will uproot and eat plants and catch slow fish, shrimp, and snails, so house it alone or only with fast mid/top-water fish. Provide a large footprint, many caves, hard alkaline water, and calcium for molting. Copper sensitive — no copper meds. A secure lid helps prevent escapes.
