Appearance

The Yellow-Fin Angelfish is a small, laterally compressed pomacanthid with a dark blue to purple body. It is distinguished by bright yellow coloration on the pectoral fins and a yellow bar across the gill cover, giving rise to its common name. The body is rounded with a small mouth suited to foraging on sponges and tunicates.

Diet and feeding

Offer a varied diet of high-quality angelfish pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, and spirulina-based foods. Supplement with dried nori seaweed and occasional live or frozen preparations to encourage natural foraging behavior on small invertebrates.

Centropyge flavipectoralis requires moderate care with attention to water quality, diet, and tankmate compatibility. It is hardier than some Centropyge species but still demands a well-established reef aquarium with stable conditions.
