Appearance
The Black-Spot Angelfish displays a distinctive pale yellow or whitish body with dark vertical stripes and a characteristic black spot (ocellus) near the dorsal fin. The fish has an elliptical, compressed body typical of the genus Genicanthus, with the darker spot pattern being the defining feature that gives the species its common name.
Diet and feeding
Offer a varied diet including both meaty foods (such as mysis shrimp, copepods, and small crustaceans) and vegetable matter (nori seaweed, spirulina). Feed 2–3 times daily in small portions to maintain health and coloration.
Difficulty and care for the Black-Spot Angelfish
Moderately challenging. This species requires stable water conditions, a well-established aquarium with plenty of hiding places, and a careful acclimation period. It is less aggressive than some angelfish but can be sensitive to poor water quality and sudden changes.
