Appearance
A striking dwarf angelfish reaching about 5.5 inches at maturity, featuring bright yellow coloration on the anterior half of the body and deep blue to purple on the posterior half, with a sharp color demarcation at the midline. The dorsal and anal fins are edged in blue, and the overall body shape is laterally compressed and disc-like typical of pomacanthids.
Diet and feeding
Feed a varied diet of high-quality marine flakes, pellets, and frequent small feedings of frozen preparations including mysis shrimp, spirulina, and other herbivorous supplements. Offer food 2–3 times daily in small portions.
Difficulty and care for the Bicolor Angelfish
The Bicolor Angelfish requires a well-established reef aquarium with stable water parameters and ample hiding spaces. It is more hardy than many larger angelfish but can be aggressive toward conspecifics and similarly shaped fish, and may nip at certain soft and LPS corals over time.
