Appearance
The Violet Soldierfish is a deep-bodied fish with bright red coloration on the head and body, accented by violet or purple bands and markings. It has large eyes characteristic of nocturnal species, a compressed body shape, and prominent dorsal and anal spines. The lower jaw is distinctly projecting and displays silvery-white coloration.

Feed frozen carnivorous foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped squid or fish flesh. Offer 2–3 times daily in portions appropriate to tank size. This species is nocturnal and will feed most readily after lights dim.
