Appearance

Doubletooth Soldierfish are moderately sized fish with a deep, compressed body shape and large eyes adapted for low-light reef environments. They display reddish to silvery coloration with distinctive double teeth (giving the species its name), and black edges on their dorsal and anal fins are characteristic of the species.

Diet and feeding

Feed small meaty foods including frozen mysis shrimp, small pieces of squid, and quality marine flakes. Offer food 1–2 times daily in quantities they can consume within a few minutes.

Difficulty and care for the Doubletooth Soldierfish

Doubletooth Soldierfish require moderate care due to their need for stable water conditions, adequate space, and proper feeding. They are nocturnal and can be aggressive with smaller fish or shrimp, so tankmate selection is important.

Common health issues

Marine Ich, bacterial infections, poor water quality stress

Origin and habitat

Indo-Pacific region from the Red Sea and East Africa eastward to the Hawaiian Islands and the Americas, occurring in tropical and subtropical reef environments at various depths.
