Fish in the family Serranidae. Moderate care. Reef Safe.
Quick facts
Appearance
A small, slender anthias with a predominantly orange-red body and fine scale pattern. The dorsal and anal fins display lighter coloration with subtle gradations; the body lacks the prominent stripes found in some congeners, giving it a smooth appearance.
Diet and feeding
Feed high-quality planktonic foods such as fine frozen copepods, mysis shrimp, and prepared plankton-based formulations multiple times daily. Supplement with occasional small frozen foods appropriate for small mouths. Strong water flow and frequent feeding support their naturally high metabolism.

Moderate - Requires some experience due to specific dietary water or tank requirements. Best suited for intermediate aquarists.
Common health issues
Marine ich, Fin rot, Swim bladder disorder, Bacterial septicaemia, Hole-in-the-head disease
Origin and habitat
Indo-Pacific coral reef regions, ranging from the Red Sea and East Africa to the Indo-Australian Archipelago and the Great Barrier Reef.
