Appearance

The Blue Angelfish is a striking deep blue to navy pomacanthid with pale blue vertical bands or stripes across the body and fins. The head often displays electric blue coloration, and the dorsal and anal fins may show yellow or orange edges. Adults are robust, laterally compressed fish with a rounded body profile.

Diet and feeding

Feed a varied omnivorous diet including high-quality angelfish pellets, marine flakes, blanched vegetables (spirulina, nori), and occasional live or frozen foods such as mysis shrimp and brine shrimp to support health and coloration.

Difficulty and care for the Blue Angelfish

The Blue Angelfish is a challenging species requiring a large, well-established aquarium with stable water chemistry and excellent filtration. These fish are sensitive to water quality changes and prone to parasitic infections in stressed conditions. They are not reef-safe and can be semi-aggressive toward conspecifics and other fish.
