Appearance
A small, deep-bodied pygmy angelfish with predominantly dark coloration—typically deep blue to black on the body with yellow or orange accents on the fins and gill covers. The species has a distinctive subtle vertical banding pattern and a compact, laterally compressed body shape characteristic of Centropyge angelfish.
Diet and feeding
Feed a varied diet of high-quality pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, and algae-based foods. Supplement with spirulina-based preparations and occasional live copepods. Feed 2–3 times daily in appropriate portion sizes.
Difficulty and care for the Easter Island Angelfish
This species is difficult due to its deepwater origin, restricted natural range, and sensitivity to water quality. It requires excellent husbandry, a stable aquarium environment, and careful acclimation. Not recommended for beginners.
