Appearance

A small, deep-bodied angelfish with striking bright red-orange coloration across the entire body, with bold vertical black stripes running along the dorsal and anal fins. The tail is yellow-orange, and the fish has a characteristic compressed, oval-shaped body typical of dwarf angelfish.

Diet and feeding

In captivity, feed high-quality omnivorous pellets designed for marine fish, supplemented with regular offerings of spirulina-based foods, frozen mysis shrimp, and frozen vegetable matter. Feed 1-2 times daily in small portions.

Difficulty and care for the Flame Angelfish

The Flame Angelfish is a challenging species that requires excellent water quality, stable conditions, and a well-established aquarium. It is prone to parasitic infections and often exhibits poor feeding behavior when first acclimated, making it better suited to experienced aquarists.

Origin and habitat

Indo-Pacific coral reef environments, ranging from the Central Indo-Pacific to the Hawaiian Islands and parts of the Great Barrier Reef. Found primarily in deep reef crevices and steep outer reef slopes at depths of 60 to 200 meters.
