Heterotrophic feeder; consumes small fish, crustaceans, and zooplankton. Benefits from regular target feeding of mysis shrimp or small pieces of marine flesh 2-3 times weekly.

Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea to the Great Barrier Reef, typically in reef environments.

• Minimum 50 gallon tank • Requires strong lighting (high-intensity LED or T5) and moderate to strong water flow • Temperature range 72–78°F; maintain pH 8.1–8.3 and salinity 1.023–1.025 • Feed twice weekly with small meaty foods (frozen shrimp, fish, or specialized anemone food) • Provide open sand bed or rubble substrate; position away from hard corals and allelopathic soft corals
