Invertebrate in the family Chromodorididae. Expert care. Reef Safe.
Quick facts
Diet and feeding
Chromodoris magnifica are specialized sponge feeders that consume specific sponge species in the wild. They are extremely difficult to feed in captivity and rarely accept substitute foods, making long-term survival challenging in home aquariums.
Origin and habitat
Indo-Pacific region, primarily found in the Philippines, Indonesia, and surrounding coral reef environments.
Keeper notes
• Minimum 30 gallon tank • Maintain temperature range of 72–78°F • Keep pH stable at 8.1–8.3 and salinity at 1.023–1.025 SG • Nudibranchs are specialized feeders; C. magnifica requires specific sponge species (primarily Hyrtios spp.) which can be difficult to source and maintain • Avoid sudden water parameter changes and maintain excellent water quality with regular water changes
