Diet and feeding

Carnivorous scavengers feeding on small fish, crustaceans, mollusks, and detritus. Feed meaty foods like shrimp and fish several times weekly.

Origin and habitat

Indo-Pacific, including the Red Sea, East Africa, and throughout the tropical western Pacific to Hawaii and Australia.

• Minimum 55 gallon tank with plenty of rock crevices and rubble for hiding • Maintain temperature 72–78°F, pH 8.1–8.3, and salinity 1.023–1.025 • Feed meaty foods (frozen shrimp, fish) 2–3 times per week; will also scavenge • Nocturnal; provide dim lighting and undisturbed shelter • Handle with care to avoid arm breakage
