Diet and feeding
Primarily detritivorous, feeding on algae, biofilm, and organic debris. Supplement with sinking pellets, frozen foods, and vegetable matter to ensure adequate nutrition.
Origin and habitat
Indo-Pacific region from the Red Sea through Southeast Asia to the Great Barrier Reef and Hawaii.
Keeper notes
• Minimum 75 gallon tank with plenty of rockwork and hiding spaces for nocturnal behavior • Maintain temperature 72–78°F, pH 8.1–8.3, and salinity 1.023–1.025 • Gentle, mostly nocturnal scavenger; provide detritus and uneaten food as primary nutrition • Avoid housing with aggressive predators or species that may nip arm tips • Acclimate slowly and monitor for signs of stress or arm loss
