Diet and feeding
Filter feeders that consume plankton and suspended organic matter. Require frequent feeding with phytoplankton, zooplankton, or specialized liquid foods in established tanks with adequate organic load.
Origin and habitat
Tropical and subtropical Indo-Pacific reefs, including the Red Sea, Indonesia, Philippines, and Great Barrier Reef regions.
Keeper notes
• Minimum 75 gallon tank with strong, indirect water flow and no sharp surfaces that could damage arms • Maintain temperature 72–78°F, pH 8.1–8.3, and salinity 1.023–1.025 • Nocturnal; provide dark hiding spots and gentle lighting to reduce stress • Feed small particles of phytoplankton, zooplankton, and prepared foods several times weekly • Difficult to acclimate; handle sparingly and quarantine before introducing to display tank
