Diet and feeding

Omnivorous grazers that consume algae, detritus, and organic matter on substrate and rockwork. Feed supplemental dried seaweed or spirulina if natural food sources are insufficient.

Origin and habitat

Indo-Pacific region from the Red Sea and East Africa to Hawaii and the central Pacific.

• Minimum 20 gallon tank • Nocturnal, reclusive grazer; provide plenty of rockwork and hiding spots • Feed on algae, detritus, and biofilm; supplement with dried seaweed if algae growth is sparse • Maintain temperature 75–80°F and salinity 1.023–1.025 • Do not expose to air; handle minimally to avoid stress
