Appearance
A compact grouper with a distinctive strawberry-red body heavily spotted with white or cream-colored spots covering the head, body, and fins. The body is robust and somewhat compressed laterally, typical of hind groupers in the Serranidae family. Juveniles display brighter coloration than adults.
Diet and feeding
Feed a varied diet of high-quality frozen foods including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and meaty preparations. Occasionally offer live or fresh prey. Feed once to twice daily in smaller amounts or every other day.
