Appearance

Small blenny with a slender, elongated body and a large mouth. Coloration is typically tan or olive-brown with darker banding; the distinguishing feature is a bright orange or reddish throat and gill area, particularly prominent in males.

Diet and feeding

Feed small live or frozen foods including copepods, amphipods, small crustaceans, and finely chopped meaty preparations. In the wild they are microcarnivorous, feeding on small invertebrates and zooplankton.
