Appearance

The Mimic Half Black Tang has a distinctive dark brown to black anterior half and pale to white posterior half, creating a sharp demarcation across the mid-body. The species has the characteristic compressed, oval body shape of the genus Acanthurus with a venomous spine at the base of the tail.
