Appearance

A small, stocky fish with a dark brown to black body covered in distinctive white spots and bands. The head is large and rounded with a small mouth, and the dorsal and anal fins are elongated, giving it a betta-like appearance.

Diet and feeding

Feed small live or frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, copepods, small amphipods, and occasionally small fish. This species prefers frequent small meals and may be reluctant to accept prepared foods initially.
