Appearance

A small, slender dragonet with vibrant coloration featuring intricate patterns of orange, yellow, and blue markings. The body is slightly flattened laterally with a tapering tail and venomous gill spines characteristic of the Callionymidae family.

Diet and feeding

Feed small live or frozen copepods, amphipods, and other small crustaceans. The Hawaiian Dragonet is a bottom grazer that feeds on meiofauna and requires frequent small meals to sustain its metabolic rate.
