Appearance
A slender, elongated eel-like fish with a greenish or tan body marked by distinctive greenish bands or stripes running laterally along its length. The body tapers posteriorly, and the fish has small, almost hidden eyes typical of cryptic reef dwellers. Reaches approximately 10 inches in captivity.
Diet and feeding
Feeds primarily on small crustaceans and zooplankton. In captivity, offer frozen mysis shrimp, copepods, and small live foods such as amphipods. Feed 1–2 times daily in small portions.

Indo-Pacific region from the Red Sea and East Africa eastward to Hawaii and the Great Barrier Reef. Found in deep reef environments and rubble zones at depths typically between 20–100 feet.
