Appearance

A striking triggerfish with a bright blue throat and gill area contrasting against an olive-green to tan body; the tail is pale blue or white, giving rise to its scientific name albicaudatum. The head is robust and the body is compressed laterally, typical of triggers.

Diet and feeding

Feed a varied diet of meaty foods including chopped fish, shrimp, squid, and frozen crustaceans. Triggerfish also benefit from hard-shelled items (snails, clams) to wear down continuously growing teeth. Feed 1–2 times daily.
