What information can appear in Reef Trak
The exact cards depend on what the selected Home Assistant devices expose. A temperature sensor may provide a current value and trend. A power-monitoring plug may provide state, watts, and availability. A pump or light may expose only a basic state. Reef Trak cannot invent a measurement that the device or its Home Assistant integration does not supply.
Useful examples include aquarium temperature, heater activity, return-pump state, skimmer state, leak-sensor status, equipment connectivity, and power draw. Recent numeric history can make a reading easier to interpret because a trend answers a different question than one current value.

What stays inside the home
Pairing does not give Reef Trak a Home Assistant username or password. The user makes the selection inside Home Assistant, and the bridge sends only the chosen device readings and limited display details through an outbound encrypted connection. The complete Home Assistant device list, unselected household equipment, room names, cameras, credentials, and location data are not part of the monitoring payload.
The selection is the practical privacy boundary. A reef keeper with hundreds of Home Assistant entities does not need to expose the house to monitor a tank. Choose the aquarium devices, confirm the individual readings, and leave everything else unchecked.
What you need before pairing
You need a working Home Assistant installation, at least one aquarium-relevant device already reporting there, a Reef Trak account with a tank, and Reef Trak Premium. Home Assistant can run on dedicated compatible hardware, a virtual machine, or a container you maintain. Reef Trak does not supply or replace the Home Assistant host.
Once the equipment is stable in Home Assistant, use the Reef Trak app to create a pairing code, add the Reef Trak integration in Home Assistant, and select the tank equipment. If a device is unavailable or misconfigured in Home Assistant, pairing it to Reef Trak will not repair the source. Fix the source first, then add the aquarium context.
