Apex Fusion does control. Reef Trak does records.

Apex Fusion is Neptune Systems' cloud dashboard for the Apex controller. It runs your equipment in real time. Powerheads, dosing pumps, lights, heaters, return pump, ATO. It also stores some recent probe data.

Reef Trak does not control equipment. Reef Trak tracks everything that happens in the tank over time. Parameters from any test kit or probe, including Apex. Dosing schedules and dose logs. Livestock additions and changes. Equipment records and maintenance. Expenses. And TrakAI exports.

How Apex Fusion and Reef Trak work together

Reef Trak imports Apex Fusion data read-only through the Neptune Apex API. Probe readings (pH, ORP, temperature, salinity, alkalinity if you have a Trident) flow into Reef Trak's parameter history automatically. You never have to manually re-enter what Apex already logged.

Then Reef Trak combines that Apex data with everything else. Kit-based test results. Dosing logs. Livestock changes. Maintenance events. Multi-week trend charts overlay all of it. TrakAI exports the combined history for analysis in any AI engine.

When Apex Fusion is enough on its own

For real-time control and short-term probe history (last week, last month), Apex Fusion alone is fine. If you run a small reef and only care about whether your heater is on right now, you do not need Reef Trak.

When Apex Fusion is not enough

  • You want parameter history beyond what Apex retains.
  • You test with kits (alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, nitrate, phosphate) in addition to Apex probes.
  • You want to log dosing, livestock, equipment, or maintenance events in the same system.
  • You want to export combined tank history to ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini for analysis.
  • You also use a HYDROS, Alkatronic, Mastertronic, or AquaWiz controller. Reef Trak pulls from all five.
  • You want a real Web Portal at reeftrak.com to view tank data from a desktop.

How to set up Apex Fusion plus Reef Trak

In Reef Trak, go to Settings, then Controllers, then Apex Fusion. Sign in with your Apex Fusion credentials. Pick which Apex unit and which probes to import. Done. Reef Trak pulls readings on a regular cadence and they appear alongside your manual logs.
