Diet and feeding

Omnivorous scavenger feeding on zooplankton, small crustaceans, and detritus. Supplement with quality frozen foods like mysis shrimp and brine shrimp 2–3 times weekly.

Origin and habitat

Indo-Pacific region from the Red Sea through Southeast Asia to the Great Barrier Reef and Hawaii.

• Minimum 30 gallon tank • Maintain temperature 72–79°F, pH 8.1–8.3, salinity 1.023–1.025 • Prefers stony corals (particularly acropora and pocillopora) where it establishes symbiotic relationships and receives food from coral zooxanthellae • Nocturnal and reclusive; provide plenty of coral branches and rockwork for shelter • Generally reef-safe when hosted in appropriate corals; may pinch unwary fish or inverts
