• Minimum 75 gallon tank with deep sand bed (4–6 inches) for foraging and burrowing • Maintain temperature range 72–78°F, pH 8.1–8.3, and salinity 1.023–1.025 • Primarily detritivorous; feeds on organic debris, sand biofilm, and decaying matter; supplement with occasional seaweed or frozen food • Nocturnal; provide hiding places and low lighting; avoid strong water flow that may stress the animal • Very sensitive to copper, pesticides, and sudden parameter changes; acclimate slowly
