Appearance

Slender, elongated body with two vertical white stripes on a blue to purple background. The head and anterior body are typically brighter blue, while the posterior fades to purple. Two prominent dorsal fins are characteristic of the genus.

Diet and feeding

Primarily a planktivore that feeds on small copepods, amphipods, and other zooplankton. In captivity, offer high-quality small frozen foods like mysis shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped preparations; supplement with quality flake or pellet foods designed for small fish.
