Appearance

Chaetodon humeralis is a laterally compressed, deep-bodied butterflyfish with white-to-yellow coloration marked by three distinctive dark brown or black diagonal bands running vertically along the body. The snout is pointed, and the dorsal and anal fins are banded to match the body pattern.

Moderately challenging for hobbyists. This species requires stable reef conditions, varied diet, and adequate space. It is less hardy than some other butterflyfish but more robust than obligate corallivores if provided appropriate care.
