Appearance
The Spotted Wrasse is a small, elongate fish with a deep body and rounded head. Males display vibrant coloration with blue spots and streaks on the head and body, orange-red patterns, and distinctive color transitions from blue-green anteriorly to yellow-orange posteriorly. Females are typically duller, showing more muted brown to tan coloration with subtle spotting.
Diet and feeding
Anampses meleagrides are carnivorous feeders that hunt small crustaceans, copepods, and small invertebrates on the reef. In captivity, offer a varied diet of frozen mysis shrimp, copepod-rich preparations, small crustaceans, and high-quality carnivore pellets multiple times daily.
