Appearance

The Spotnape Cardinalfish is a small, stocky fish with a reddish-orange body and distinctive white or pale spots on the nape (back of head). It has a rounded body shape typical of cardinalfish, large eyes adapted for low-light environments, and a slightly forked tail fin.

Diet and feeding

Feed small meaty foods such as finely chopped marine flesh, frozen mysis shrimp, and small frozen copepods. Cardinalfish are nocturnal hunters and feed best when offered food in dimmer lighting or at night.
