Appearance
The Blackbelted Cardinalfish is a small, slender fish reaching about 3 inches at maturity. It displays a silvery-white body with a distinctive wide black vertical band running through the middle of the body, from the dorsal region to the anal fin. The head is small, the mouth terminal, and the body is somewhat compressed laterally.
Diet and feeding
Feed small meaty zooplankton-sized prey such as mysis shrimp, copepods, brine shrimp, and finely minced fish. They are nocturnal foragers and should be fed multiple times daily to ensure adequate nutrition, particularly when kept in the presence of more aggressive competitors.
