Appearance

A small, slender cardinalfish with a deep red to reddish-orange body and distinctive black vertical bands across the head and gill covers. The body tapers toward a forked tail.

Diet and feeding

Feed small carnivorous foods including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. In established reef systems, may forage on small crustaceans and zooplankton.
