Appearance
The Schooling Bannerfish has a predominantly black and white striped body with a distinctive white snout and a notably elongated dorsal fin filament that extends well above the body. Adults display bold vertical banding and retain the characteristic banner-like extension of the anterior dorsal fin rays throughout their lives.
Diet and feeding
In the wild, Heniochus diphreutes feeds on zooplankton and small crustaceans. In captivity, provide high-quality frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and copepods, supplemented with quality flake or pellet foods designed for planktivorous reef fish.
