Appearance
The Sammara Squirrelfish is a compact, deep-bodied fish with large eyes and predominantly silvery-red coloration accented by dark red or black horizontal stripes. It has a spiny dorsal fin and nocturnal behavior, making it most active during low-light conditions.
Difficulty and care for the Sammara Squirrelfish
Moderate difficulty. Sammara Squirrelfish are hardy nocturnal feeders that adapt well to captivity but require adequate tank space, low-light refuges, and live or meaty foods. They are generally hardy once acclimated.

Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea to Hawaii, including East Africa, the Indian Ocean, and throughout the Pacific.
