Appearance
Males display bright red-orange coloration on the head and anterior body, transitioning to violet-blue posteriorly, with distinctive red dorsal and anal fins. Females are predominantly orange-red with subtle banding. The body is elongated and streamlined, typical of fairy wrasses, with a pointed snout and relatively small mouth adapted for picking small invertebrates from the reef.
Diet and feeding
Feed high-quality carnivorous preparations including mysis shrimp, copepods, and small crustaceans. Offer varied frozen foods 2-3 times daily. They naturally feed on small benthic and planktonic copepods and other minute crustaceans.
Difficulty and care for the Red-fin Fairy Wrasse
Moderate difficulty. Red-fin Fairy Wrasses are hardy and colorful but require established reef aquaria with good water quality, plenty of small live food items, and peaceful tankmates. They are prone to jumping and need tight-fitting covers.
