Appearance

Small, elongated body with distinctive red coloration across the belly and lower half. Dark upper body and head with a characteristic banded pattern; nocturnal fish with large eyes adapted to low-light reef environments.

Diet and feeding

Carnivorous planktivore that feeds on small crustaceans and zooplankton in the wild. In captivity, offer frozen mysis shrimp, small frozen copepods, and quality frozen foods 2–3 times daily. Feed live foods occasionally to encourage natural feeding behavior.
