Appearance

Ophichthus apicalis is an elongate, eel-like fish with a slender tan to yellowish body. It is distinguished by a pointed tail (hence "Pointed-Tail Snake Eel") and small, inconspicuous eyes adapted for benthic life.

Feed small live or frozen crustaceans, small fish pieces, and carnivore preparations. Nocturnal hunter; feed in evening. Prefers live food initially but may accept frozen after acclimation.
