Appearance
A small cardinalfish with a reddish or orange-red body coloration adorned with distinct orange-to-yellow horizontal stripes running along the flanks. The fish has a large mouth, moderately compressed body, and two dorsal fins characteristic of the family Apogonidae. Adults typically measure around 2.5–3.5 inches.
Diet and feeding
Feed small, meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, copepods, and finely chopped seafood. Can be offered frozen or live prey. Cardinalfish are nocturnal hunters and should be fed in dim lighting or at night.
Difficulty and care for the Orange-Lined Cardinalfish
A moderate-difficulty species requiring stable reef conditions, dim lighting to accommodate nocturnal behavior, and consistent feeding of appropriately sized meaty foods. Not recommended for beginner aquarists unfamiliar with cardinalfish care.

Origin and habitat
Indo-Pacific region, from the Great Barrier Reef to Indonesia and the Philippines. Found in coastal reef areas and sheltered lagoons.
