Quick facts
Appearance
The Network Pipefish is a slender, elongated fish with a distinctive reticulated (net-like) pattern of dark lines over a pale yellowish or tan body. The head tapers to a small mouth typical of pipefish. It reaches about 6 inches in length and has a segmented body with minimal fin development, relying on subtle movements for locomotion.
Diet and feeding
Network Pipefish feed primarily on small crustaceans in captivity, particularly live copepods and amphipods. Frozen mysis shrimp may be accepted but live food is strongly preferred. Feeding small portions multiple times daily supports their high metabolic demands.
