Appearance

The Double-Ended Pipefish is a slender, elongated fish with a prehensile tail and a tubular snout. It features a tan to yellowish body with darker bands or stripes running along its length, and typically exhibits a pair of dark lines running from snout to tail. The body shape is characteristic of pipefish, with a segmented appearance due to bony plating.

Diet and feeding

Doryrhamphus bicarinatus feeds primarily on small crustaceans in the wild. In captivity, it requires frequent small meals of live copepods and amphipods, supplemented with quality frozen mysis shrimp and enriched frozen foods.
