Appearance

A small wrasse with an iridescent neon-blue head and body, accented with orange or red striping and a distinctive orange spot on the gill cover. The body is slender and streamlined, typical of the wrasse family.

Diet and feeding

Feeds on small crustaceans, copepods, and other small invertebrates in the wild. In captivity, offer frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and high-quality carnivore pellets. May also graze on small amphipods and benthic fauna in the aquarium.

Origin and habitat

Indo-Pacific, ranging from East Africa and the Red Sea through Indonesia and the Philippines to the Great Barrier Reef and northward to the Ryukyu Islands.
